Gujarat Govt Focuses on Youth and Farmers in their Budget 2016-17

The Gujarat government has announced INR 85,557.7 crore annual development plan on Tuesday. The government has also allocated INR 40,288.52 crore for development of social services such as primary health services, education, drinking water, housing, nutrition, cleanliness, welfare of schedule caste, schedule tribes, socially and educationally backward, woman and child development. The proposed Budget for 2016-17 has a clear focus on the Youth and farmers.

Plans for Youth:

The government has promised while the presenting the budget that 66,000 government jobs will be opened for the youth in the current year. Finance Minister, Saurabh Patel said, “for the first time since the foundation of the state (in 1960).” The government said that the year 2016-17 will be celebrated as ‘Yuva Vikas Varsh’ with special provision to empower the youth.

Plans for Farmers:

The state government has allocated INR 375 crore for crop loan that will be made available for the farmers at one percent interest rate. This government new plan will help farmers to relieve from the financial burden.

The Gujarat will also set-up fertilizer storage facility, whereby the farmers do not face any problem in acquiring fertilizers during peak season. In addition, government has decided to give interest relief in loan on purchase of animals to animal husbandry.

The government has also allocated INR 14,294 crore to strengthen irrigation channels across the Gujarat.
