GSTN Initiates Pilot Test Ahead of GST Roll Out

The GST is considered to be the biggest and most impactful tax regime in the Indian taxation industry as it is supposed to eradicate the leap of indirect taxes currently prevailing in the country. The goods and services network (GSTN) has now started to conduct a pilot test on the return filing by agreed upon 4000 taxpayers across states in coming 15 days tenure.

A senior authority said that “It will be a live test using 4,000 taxpayers and will be conducted over this fortnight.” The pilot test will be a guiding test for the upcoming exercise of around 80 lakh taxpaying data process. The taxpayers will be handled by the GSTN platform where they are expected to cover all the taxation related details.

The taxpayers are required to file three returns monthly in order to maintain their tax data regularly and up to date with the government authorities. There would be separate forms each for sales, purchase and one annual return for the final tax paid after the total uploading. The forms will be GSTR1, GSTR2, GSTR3 related to sales, purchase and final tax payment respectively.

The revenue secretary Hasmukh Adhia assured the general public about the multiple returns in each month and told that in reality there would be only one return which has to be filed every month. He also mentioned that there will be an ease of compliance and also erased the doubts of where the GSTN platform is able to handle the load of data of the staggering number of taxpayers.

The motive of the pilot test will be cleaning out all the issues and bugs out of the server and the software in order to provide a hassle free experience in the return filing to the taxpayers. The outcome of the pilot test will be discussed with the GST council in the next meeting in order to facilitate the authority with every information regarding the project GST.
