GST: Centre Allotted 15-day Slot for Andhra Pradesh Dealers to Register

An announced for all the 2.1 lakh dealers in the State and about 28,000 in the capital city of Visakhapatnam, made by the central government to register dealers under the Goods and Services Tax Act (GST), by January 15, 2017.

Deputy Commissioner of Commercial Tax Department K. Nagendra, on Monday said that ” the central government is providing the facility of uploading required documents such as Aadhaar card, PAN card, and other details, on the GST official site www.gst.gov.in to get registered as a provisional dealer, in the slotted time period of 15 days commencing from January 1, 2016.”

According to him, the Commercial Tax Department will mail the authentication details like the provisional user id and password to the dealers on their registered email id and mobile number, for logging into the GST website. So far, around  60 percent of the dealers have already sent their email address and contact number to the department and the last date for submitting aforementioned details is Dec 31.

As per Mr. Nagendra, the Parliament has passed a constitutional amendment to the GST Bill, which has already been approved by the majority of the states in the country.

“The Act will come into force from April 1,” he said.

The entire registration process is online and user-friendly. The dealers have been sensitized by the means of a number of workshops and still if dealers have any question, they can contact to the concerned Commercial Tax Officers or access to the helpdesk. For more information, the tradesman can also login to www.apcity.gov.in, K. Durga Surekha, CTO of Dwarakanagar area, told The Hindu.

Mr. Nagendra further said, by the GST effect on the state, the department has generated around Rs. 32,000 crore as an average annual revenue of the state and out of which Rs. 10000 crore was the share of Visakhapatnam district, with an exclusive revenue collection of Rs 8,000 only from the oil sector.

After implementation of GST, the revenue might witness a slight downfall, However, the Central government is assuring to compensate the deficit after every two months.

Mr. Nagendra by elaborating GST module said, “currently, dealers have to file separate returns for each taxes which are VAT, Luxury tax and CST and 9 others in Indian taxation. But, post GST, there will be just one tax (GST), in place of all the current tax components and the dealers will be able to file just one return easily via online. The collected GST revenue will be divided between the State and the Centre.”
