FM Extends GSTR 1 Filing Deadline Except QRMP Scheme Taxpayers

Revised Due Date of GSTR 1 Outward Supplies for May 2021

The Government of India, on Monday, declared that the deadline for filing monthly GST sales returns for the month of May has been extended by 15 days to June 26.

In the 43rd meeting of GST council Smt @nsitharaman will chair the 43rd GST Council meeting via video conferencing at 11 AM in New Delhi on 28th May 2021. The meeting will be attended by MOS Shri @ianuragthakur besides Finance Ministers of States & UTs. Read also chaired by the Union Finance Minister along with state counterparts, held on May 28, it has been decided to stretch the aforesaid deadline on account of the second Covid pandemic.

The medium of the above-mentioned message was a series of tweets that were made by “The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC)”

In a regular routine, businesses file GSTR-1 (on the 11th day of the subsequent month) that provides details of outward supplies made during the previous month. For payment of Goods and Services Tax (GST), Form GSTR-3B is duly filed by the businesses between the 20th-24th day of the succeeding month.

Furthering the information, The GST Council also gave a green signal to the extension by ‘three months i.e. till July 31’ of the due date for filing the annual returns for fiscal 2020-21 by composition dealers. “Due date for furnishing annual return in Form GSTR-4 for FY 2020-21 to be extended to July 31, 2021,” CBIC said.

Adding further, the taxpayers who have been registered as per the Companies Act 2013 have been given permission to furnish GST returns till August 31, 2021, by using the Electronic Verification Code (EVC) in place of the Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) till August 31, 2021.
