Department Cracks Down on 400 Traders Cancelling GST Number

It is very important to file regular GST as it helps in revenue of India. For many businesses, the GST registration is compulsory and if the GST registration is cancelled and business is still continued then it is an offence under GST which will lead to penalties. And if traders do not file the returns regularly then their GST number can be cancelled.

The same thing happened in Pratapgarh and neighbouring places in which the commercial tax department took strict action against 400 traders in the first instalment. This action created a fear in the minds of the traders who did not file regular GST returns.

Out of 6500 registered traders, thousands of traders are not filing the taxes on a regular basis. A warning was given to the traders regarding this but the traders did not listen to the warning and continued doing the same thing the officers finally took strict actions against 400 traders.

Now the businessmen who are happily doing this negligence will be taken in hands by the officers said Manoj Kumar Mishra, Pratapgarh’s Assistant Commissioner of Commerce.

Even after the strict actions taken by the commercial tax department, there are still some stubborn traders who will not file the GST returns. If the officers find such traders then they will have to give the penalty and their shop can also be seized.

Fertilizer and seed traders along with the officials of the Uttar Pradesh Industry Trade Delegation Board told the DM Office of Kaushambi that the Agriculture Officer harassed them and legal action must be taken against them. Many businessmen came forward and told that the agriculture officer came to their shops for investigation but forced them for illegal recovery even the businessmen who were innocent.
