Class X ICSE Syllabus Soon To Get GST Chapters

The goods and services tax will be soon in the textbooks of ICSE board class X mathematics books. The Council For Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) stated that the older tax regime i.e. value added tax (VAT) now serves no purpose to the education.

Now the question based on VAT weighing around 4 to 6 marks will be replaced with GST based questions in the exams from 2020. A principal of ICSE affiliated school mentioned that “Since VAT serves no purpose, it has been discontinued. Students who will be promoted to Class X in 2019 will be offered the new chapter and will be tested on it in 2020.”

Still, there are chances that the students might face question-based on VAT in the ICSE exam 2019 due to ambiguity. Another principal from a different school stated that “The Council is always in favour of upgrading syllabus in the light of current happenings.”

It is well to know that the new indirect tax is soon considered in the education as it will provide multiple benefits to the students opting for the commerce-related stream. The principal states that, “Even for a layman, it is important to understand the intricacies of GST. The change will help students learn the present indirect tax structure of the country.”

While on the other hand, National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has also made up its mind to include the GST related topics in the existing syllabus of subjects namely such as economics, business studies, accountancy, and political science.

It is speculated that almost all the national boards and the education department will reform the syllabus according to the latest indirect tax regime and include the topics of GST soon.
