CBIC New Plan for GST Collection with State Administrations

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) decided to conduct the meetings through the officials of state tax administrations in the country to surge GST collections mentioned in an official discussion.

A similar meet has formerly been conducted in Karnataka towards the revenue boost plan along with that to find out the areas of possible sync, as per the report via chairman of CBIC Vivek Johri published on the tax authority’s website.

The new decision in which the zonal members will cover the full formations in their jurisdictions through these meets to build the plans towards revenue augmentation for GST for some subsequent weeks.

Effective coordination between central and state agencies for keeping the enforcement is enabled post to the execution of the GST as the tax system is unified.

The same has arrived when the council from 1st Jan has made the rules strict concerning to assessee’s reporting obligations along with those similar to the powers of the council to perform the provisional attachment of assets in some of the cases to secure the revenue of the government. Data analytics is being practised by the GST council to find out the mismatches and to determine the fake people performing bogus activities.

“Vivek Johri commented that I would like to nudge field formations to keep a close watch on revenue collections, particularly, IGST import revenue. Our targets may be tough but I am sure that we are equal to the task. Zonal chiefs may continue to monitor revenue collections on a daily basis and make all possible efforts to optimise collections,”

CBIC urges the council to clear the left work towards the major areas of work along with examinations and awareness issues by 31 March.
