When it comes to tax compliances don’t procrastinate. The end date to link your Permanent Account Number (PAN) with your Aadhaar number is nearby i.e. The last date to link Permanent Account Number (PAN) with Aadhaar Card has been stretched to June 30, 2021.

As per the sources, the government shall opt for the stringent action against those taxpayers who have yet not linked their PAN with Aadhaar Card Due to the difficulties faced in the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic, The Central Board of Direct Taxes ( CBDT) has extended the deadline/last date for linking the Aadhaar number with Permanent Account Number (PAN) from 31st March 2021 to 30th June 2021 Read more even after a warning. Moreover, the sources further disclosed that if an employee doesn’t or fails to link PAN with an Aadhaar card by the end of this month i.e. June 30, the company shall not credit salary in the employee’s account from the next month.

A permanent Account Number is a ten-digit number that assists tax officials to suppress tax evasion along with tax fraud because of the fact that PAN is connected to all financial transactions that are undertaken by an individual. As per Clause 41 of Section 139AA of the Income Tax Act 1961.

“If a person fails to intimate the Aadhaar number, the permanent account number allotted to such person shall be made inoperative after the notified date in the manner as may be provided by rules.”

In the Budget of 2021, the Central government has inserted a new section 234H in the Income Tax Act 1961 wherein an individual shall have to pay/bear a penalty if PAN and Aadhaar are not linked till the end date. Consequentially, if an individual overlooks, forgets, or misses the deadline, he or she shall be liable to pay/bear a penalty to the amount not exceeding more than Rs 1,000.
