For the prolongation of the deadline, the Gujrat high court is providing the notice to the union government concern to the PIL which says the extension of the due date of furnishing the GST returns because of the pandemic.
PIL was furnished through Surat’s Abhishek Tulsyan stating that persons having Goods & Services Tax (GST) registrations and turnover of more than the benchmark limit are needed to file the yearly return and reconciliation in Form GSTR-9 and GSTR-9C. Dec 31 is the due date for furnishing the GST.
Various assessees are facing problems because of the lockdown imposed through the government and due to the economic retardation. Thus people must be provided with some relaxation through the extension on the due date, or the penalty on the late submission must be rejected.

On January 5 another proceeding will be conducted by the GST Council and the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs, the union government received a notice from Justice Vaibhavi.
