BMC Extends GST TRAN 1 Return Filing Due Date Till 10th May

GST Tran 1 Due Date

The GST Tran-1 which was introduced by the GST council along with the implementation of goods and services tax is a form meant for filing in order to avail the older credit of taxes paid before the coming of the goods and services tax.

Recently in the news for technical glitches, the Bombay high court has extended the deadline for filing the GST Tran-1 form by 10 days more. The reason is been given that the portal has encountered unexpected technical glitches.

Many of the taxpayers failed to file the Tran-1 before the given due date of April 30 as the portal was continuously impacted with the technical glitches and it made impossible for the taxpayers to carry out any tax filing process.

A statement was released by the court which mentioned that, “… interest of justice would be served if we extend this date of 30th April 2018 in relation to the filing of TRAN-1 and which filing was not possible due to technical glitches / IT related glitches. We extend it to 10th May 2018.”

Also, apparently the facility was extended for the taxpayers who were unable to file the Tran-1 because of the technical glitches and not to those who had some other reason.

This was cleared as the court demanded proof that it was the technical glitch that made impossible for the taxpayers to file for the Tran-1 form.
