CBDT Updates: Belated ITR Due Date Revised & Upload GST Return Data in 26AS Form

The Central Board of Direct Taxes released notifications on 29th September and 30th September and made some important announcements.

Through a notification issued on September 29, the CBDT empowered the Principal Director General of Income Tax (System) or the Director General of Income Tax (System) to upload information related to GST returns, which is in their purview, in the Annual Information Statement in Form 26AS Steps to view and download the annual information statement new form 26AS. Also, we mention the difference between actual TDS & reflected TDS in Form 26AS. Read more . They have to do that within 3-months from the end of the month in which he has received the information.

They will also have to specify the process, formats and standards for the purposes of uploading the annual information as stated above in the statement in Form 26. More details can be found

Through the notification issued on September 30, 2020, the CBDT extended the dates for furnishing the belated and revised returns for the Assessment Year 2019-20 under sub-section (4) and (5) of section 139 of the Act respectively.

The actual date was March 31, 2020 then it was extended several times. At first it was extended to June 30,2020 and then to July 31,2020 and the previous one was September 30, 2020. And now again with the F. No. 225/1 50/2020-ITA-U dated September 30, 2020 CBDT extended the last date from September 30, 2020 to November 30,2020.

The CBDT has extended the due date for furnishing of belated and revised returns for the Assessment Year 2019-20 after observing that the taxpayers are still facing the difficulties due to Corona-Virus Outbreak, lock-down and market slowdown.
